Codes that survive language mixes

International students sharing kitchens often speak different first languages. We use short English nouns plus simple icons so rice, pasta, and cleaning agents stay distinct without long bilingual paragraphs.

Shelf maps for deep cupboards

Deep Swedish base units hide rear jars. A door-mounted map showing front and back rows stops people from buying duplicates at the grocery store on Dragarbrunnsgatan.

We number shelves from the floor up so a phone photo of the map still matches after someone rearranges jars during a deep clean.

Expiry and rotation habits

Pantry planning fails when old stock sits forever behind new bags. We mark “use first” zones on the left of each shelf and leave a narrow gap for newly purchased goods on the right.
