Pantry and cupboard planning for Uppsala homes

Hallway storage

Coat, shoe, and parcel zones for Fjärdingen entries and other Uppsala hallways that double as the only landing strip for daily life.

Narrow entries in Fjärdingen

Stone stairwells and deep door frames leave little wall for a full wardrobe. We favour low shoe benches with lift lids and a single row of hooks at two heights for adults and children.

Where the hallway is only a metre wide, we keep units under 32 cm deep so a bicycle can still roll past on moving day.

Wet boots and gravel from winter streets

Salt and grit from Uppsala streets destroy untreated timber floors. We specify a shallow drip tray under the shoe rack and a wipeable mat zone that does not block the apartment door swing.

Heated towel rails are rare in hallways, so we plan open slat shelves that let boots dry overnight without trapping moisture against the wall.

Parcel and post handling

Online deliveries pile up in student corridors. A labelled shelf or cubby beside the door keeps boxes off the floor and free of tripping hazards for flatmates.

For households that receive many packages, we add a small lockable locker when the building association allows it in the private hallway.

Seasonal coat rotation

Down jackets and rain shells need more air than office coats. We split hooks into daily wear and off-season storage, with vacuum bags on a high shelf for summer months.

Shared student flats get named hook plates so guests do not bury someone else’s scarf under three layers of wool.

Hallway planning fees

Hallway consultations range from 1 500 to 2 200 SEK for a single entry. Full hallway packages with bench, rail, and shoe plan usually cost 12 000 to 35 000 SEK including coordination of fittings.

If the same brief covers gear walls for bikes in the stairwell, we quote a combined package rather than stacking separate minimums.
